Fall road trip 2023, September 18th through November 7th

Great weather and empty campgrounds were the norm. We had a few challenges as always, water was shut off in most of the empty campgrounds in Montana. Many of the State and Federal campgrounds were closed completely but we still managed to find great places to camp and boondock. We headed east over the mountains, stopped at Chickahominy for the night and then on to Burns and turned north on 395. We’ve never been on this section of 395, rugged mountains and few people greeted us! We pulled in and checked out the mostly empty campgrounds and stayed at a couple of them, only traveling short distances each day and enjoying our time.
